"Glenn and his
wife Laurie are now making, in this Zin drinkers opinion, one of the finest
examples of Old Vine Zin produced in the Dry Creek Valley .
A medium garnet color in the glass, this wine has a candied nose of dark, spicy berries (blueberries and blackberries) with hints of white pepper, cedar, spice and an earthy note. On the palate it is medium to full bodied with a voluptuous mouthfeel, complex flavors of dark berries, chocolate, creamy oak, black pepper and excellent acidity. This acidity keeps the myriad of berry flavors from becoming too jammy; unlike many other Sonoma County/Dry Creek Valley Zinfandels. This version has all the power of the old vines without all the jamminess. Or…it’s more lively than cumbersome in the mouth. The finish is moderate in length and pleasant. This is a top of the line, small production Zin!
